Gold Coast Whale Watching Season Starts Soon!

Gold Coast Whale WatchingIf you’re visiting the Gold Coast between June and the end of October, a whale watching tour is something you just can’t afford to miss!

These magnificent giants come to the Gold Coast waters for all to see among one of the premier whale watching locations in the whole of Australia.

There are several whale watching charters that operate on the Gold Coast. I would recommend checking to see if they are members of the Gold Coast Whale Watching Association prior to booking. Prices do vary, but on average half-day tours can cost between $85-$95 for adults and $50 for children. Some companies offer a family package for a little over $200. Tours do book out in advance especially during school holidays, so I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Some local companies will provide a guarantee that if whales are not sighted during your trip, you will be issued with vouchers to return free of charge on another day.

Most of the tours depart from the Marina Mirage at Main Beach which is a short 5 minute drive from Surfers Paradise and 10 minutes from Broadbeach. The best part is you usually don’t have to venture too far off shore to sight one of these magnificent animals along with dolphins, sharks, flying fish and sea turtles.

This is defiantly one activity you should make room for whilst visiting the Gold Coast. Don’t forget to take a camera along with you to capture those memories and wear comfortable flat shoes.
